Northwood Little League
this year turns 40 years old. Not only do we celebrate this
milestone, but we do it on our new fields in Taylors, off
Boling Road. Originally founded in 1968 by a group of parents
who decided to make a place in our community for kids to
play baseball, our organization has stood the test of time,
with kids and parents bringing baseball and softball alive
each year since that opening day in ’68. We have had
untold success, placing young men and women in baseball
and softball programs at the high school, intercollegiate,
and professional ranks for the last 40 years. Known as one
of the states’ most successful leagues Northwood has
produced 62 District Champions, 27 State Champions, 17 Regional
appearances, and 1 World Series appearance. We currently
operate under a 30 member volunteer board of directors that
governs our league.
Now this tradition continues as we move into our new fields
in Taylors, S.C. Opening Day this year puts us on a new
5 field, wagon wheel complex not 3 miles from our old fields
at Northwood Middle School. Grass infields, lights, and
a brand new concession stand as the centerpiece, and our
community made this happen. Our goal at Northwood is to
have a league where every child in our district has an opportunity
to play baseball in an instructive and safe environment.
By doing this we strongly believe that we create a sense
of community where all our players and families grasp the
real meaning of baseball which is team work.
Little League Pledge:
I trust in God
I love my Country and will
Respect its laws. I will play fair and
strive to win but win or lose
I will always do my best.
